Greater Jefferson County Fair

The Greater Jefferson County Fair, begun by action of the Jefferson County Agricultural Society, started a fair in Fairfield Iowa in the year of 1851. At this time it was decided to make this “Fair” an annual event. The Fair became an Official Fair by action of the committee in 1947.

Heroes of Fairfield

"Heroes of Fairfield", the second film in the Fairfield History Series, will premiere at the Sondheim Theater at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center on Saturday and Sunday, June 30th and July 1st. In the atrium, you can visit displays depicting local history information and artifacts from four area museums and discuss local history with noted authors. The film "Heroes of Fairfield" brings to life stories of ordinary Fairfielders who did extraordinary things to make a difference in our community and our world. "Heroes of Fairfield" weekend will be an opportunity for people of all ages to delve deeper into our local history.
